Planning a birthday celebration at Squarena? We've got you covered! From choosing the perfect package to preparing for the big day, here are answers to our most frequently asked questions.

How can I book a birthday party?
We'd love to celebrate with you! Simply email us at hello@squarenaca.com with your preferred date(s), the package you're interested in, and your approximate number of players.
We'll help you explore availability and find the best option for your celebration.
Birthday bookings are confirmed on a first-come, first-paid basis. Your date and time are officially reserved once the required deposit is received.
What birthday party packages do you offer?
We offer three exciting birthday experiences, each including interactive games, food, dedicated party hosting, and a private party room.
Square One Standard: $600 | Weekday Special: $500
Level Up Standard: $950 | Weekday Special: $850
Arena Takeover Standard: $1,300| Weekday Special: $1,150
Weekday specials are available Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, and are subject to availability.
Each package varies by number of players, game rounds, party duration, and facility access. Visit our Birthday Packages page to find your perfect fit!
Are there any additional service fees?
No! Our birthday package prices already include dedicated party hosting, event coordination, setup, and cleanup. There are no additional mandatory service fees.
Optional extras, such as additional players, extended gameplay, balloons, and extra food, are priced separately.
What is required to reserve a date?
A deposit is required to secure your birthday party and is applied toward your total package price.
Deposit amounts:
Square One: $250
Level Up: $400
Arena Takeover: $550
Deposits are nonrefundable under our current cancellation policy. Your reservation is confirmed once your deposit has been received.
When is the remaining balance due?
We'll provide payment instructions and confirm when your remaining balance is due as part of the reservation process.
Your final total will reflect any approved package changes, additional players, or optional add-ons.
Can I change my package after booking?
Package changes may be possible, but they are not guaranteed.
Each package requires specific arena reservations, party room scheduling, staffing, and food arrangements. Changes such as upgrades, downgrades, or game extensions are subject to availability and management approval.
We recommend selecting the package that best accommodates your anticipated guest count and celebration plans when booking.
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
Birthday party deposits are nonrefundable under our current policy, as we reserve space and resources specifically for your celebration.
Cancellations within 14 days of the scheduled event and no-shows are not eligible for refunds or credits.
Need to reschedule? We allow one reschedule request with at least 7 days' advance notice, subject to availability and current pricing at the time of rebooking.
Please contact us as soon as possible if your plans change, and we'll help you review the available options.
How long is a birthday party?
Party duration depends on your selected package:
Square One: 90 minutes
Level Up: 90 minutes
Arena Takeover: 2 hours
Your party time includes both gameplay and time in your private party room for food and celebration.
How many games are included?
Each package offers a different number of exciting game rounds:
Square One: 2 rounds
Level Up: 3 rounds
Arena Takeover: 4 rounds
Each round lasts up to 18 minutes. Exact gameplay timing may vary slightly depending on group size, transitions, and late arrivals.
Can we play more games?
Absolutely! Want to keep the fun going? Square One and Level Up can be upgraded to extended birthday experiences with four rounds of games.
Square One: Upgrade to 2 hours with 4 games for an additional $240.
Level Up: Upgrade to 2 hours with 4 games for an additional $180.
Extensions must be arranged at the time of booking and are subject to availability.
What kind of games do the kids play?
Squarena features immersive, interactive LED-floor games that combine movement, strategy, teamwork, and plenty of excitement!
Our games encourage players to work together, think quickly, and overcome challenges in a fun, energetic environment.
With a variety of games and difficulty levels, there's something for different ages and abilities.
What does the party experience look like?
We take care of the flow so you can enjoy the celebration!
Square One
Your group kicks things off with two exciting rounds of games, with a short break between rounds to grab a drink. After gameplay, everyone heads to the private party room to enjoy pizza, cupcakes, and birthday festivities.
Level Up
Start with two rounds of games before heading to the party room to refuel with pizza and cupcakes. Then it's back to the arenas for one final round to finish the celebration strong!
Arena Takeover & Extended 4-Game Parties
Begin with two rounds of action-packed gameplay, followed by a break in the party room for food and celebration. Once everyone's recharged, head back for two more exciting rounds!
All birthday experiences include time to celebrate the birthday child, complete with our signature Digital Birthday Level.
Is there a dedicated Party Host?
Yes! Every birthday package includes a dedicated Party Host to guide gameplay, explain the rules, manage transitions, and keep the celebration running smoothly.
Our team also takes care of party setup and cleanup, so you can focus on enjoying the experience!
Is the facility reserved exclusively for our party?
At our Solana Beach location, Level Up and Arena Takeover include exclusive use of the entire Squarena facility, with both arenas reserved for your celebration.
Square One includes private gameplay in Sprocket's Arena, our larger game room, while our second arena may be in use by other guests.
All packages include a private party room and dedicated party hosting.
How many players are included?
Each birthday package includes a set number of players, with the option to add more for $35 per additional player:
Square One: 8 players included, up to 10 total
Level Up: 14 players included, up to 18 total
Arena Takeover: 20 players included, up to 24 total
We recommend sharing your estimated player count when booking so we can help you choose the best package!
Can you accommodate groups larger than the package maximum?
Possibly! We may be able to accommodate larger groups with advance approval and a customized game format.
For safety and the best gameplay experience, groups exceeding the standard package limits may require player rotations, additional time, staffing, or other adjustments.
Under approved modified game formats, a maximum of 12 players may be accommodated in one arena at a time. Larger groups require additional planning.
Customized pricing will depend on your group's size and needs, and all arrangements must be approved in advance.

Do adults count as players?
Anyone participating in gameplay counts toward the player total, whether they're a child or an adult.
Parents and other guests who are simply watching do not count as players.
What if fewer children attend than expected?
No problem! Your party can still proceed as planned.
Birthday packages are priced based on the selected package rather than actual attendance, so we cannot offer discounts or refunds if fewer players attend.
Additional players beyond the package's included count are only charged if they attend and participate.
Can younger siblings participate?
Absolutely! While there's no strict age requirement, we generally recommend Squarena for ages 4 and up for the best experience.
Younger children are welcome to participate, but they may find some game mechanics challenging. Gameplay can also be energetic and fast-paced, which may feel overwhelming when playing alongside older or more competitive children.
For celebrations with a wide range of ages, we recommend Level Up or Arena Takeover, which offer access to both arenas and greater flexibility to divide players into groups.
What if a child needs a break?
No problem at all! Players can take breaks whenever needed and rejoin the fun when they're ready.
Is food included in the birthday package?
Yes! Every birthday package includes pizza to share, along with one drink and one cupcake per player.
Included pizza quantities:
Square One: 2 large pizzas
Level Up: 3 large pizzas
Arena Takeover: 4 large pizzas
Our pizzas are large, 18-inch, one-topping pizzas from our local pizza partner.
Additional food and beverages are available for purchase if you'd like to provide more for your guests.
Can we bring our own food or beverages?
Outside food and beverages are not permitted, with the exception of bottled water and birthday cake for reserved birthday parties.
We apply this policy consistently to help maintain food safety standards, ensure smooth transitions between parties, and provide a consistent experience for all guests.
If you have dietary restrictions, allergies, or special requests, please contact us in advance so we can discuss available options.
Can we purchase additional food?
Of course! We're happy to help coordinate additional food orders through our pizza partner, Bongiorno's.
Additional food is priced at cost, plus 20% to cover coordination, delivery, and related expenses.
Once you've selected your items, we'll provide the complete order total for your approval before placing the order.
Can we bring a birthday cake?
Absolutely! You're welcome to bring a birthday cake to enjoy in your designated private party room.
A few helpful things to know:
We do not have kitchen facilities for cake storage, preparation, or serving.
Please bring any necessary serving supplies, including a cake cutter, utensils, cake stand or display, and additional disposable plates.
Any remaining cake must be taken with you at the end of the party.
Birthday cake is permitted only with a reserved birthday party package and cannot be brought to standard gameplay bookings.
Cupcakes are already included with your package, but you're welcome to opt out with advance notice to help minimize food waste.
Is there time for cake and singing?
Yes! Time is built into every birthday experience for singing, cake or cupcakes, and celebrating the birthday child.
We also have a special Squarena birthday surprise to help make their day even more memorable!
Can we opt out of the included food?
What happens if guests arrive late?
What should players wear?
Of course! If you prefer not to receive the included pizza, drinks, or cupcakes, just let us know in advance.
Please note that birthday packages are priced as complete experiences, so opting out of included items does not change the package price.
Advance notice helps us minimize unnecessary food waste.
Do you provide themed decorations?
Do participants need to sign waivers?
Yes! Every birthday package includes festive decorations and thoughtful birthday touches.
We love making celebrations feel personal and we'll do our best to incorporate special details whenever possible, subject to availability.
Want to take your decorations even further? We also offer optional balloon arrangements!
Can we bring our own decorations?
Absolutely! You're welcome to bring simple, themed decorations to personalize your private party room.
To keep our space safe and allow enough time between celebrations, we ask that decorations follow a few guidelines:
Decorations must be freestanding or placed on tabletops.
Nothing may be attached to walls, doors, or fixtures in a way that could cause damage.
Confetti, glitter, ladders, and elaborate setups requiring significant installation or cleanup are not permitted.
If you're planning to bring decorations, please let us know in advance so we can help coordinate the setup.
Do you provide balloons?
Balloons are available as an optional add-on!
Our Balloon Menu features number balloons, character balloons, balloon clusters, towers, and our signature Party Pop Package.
We'd be happy to help you select an arrangement that complements your celebration!
Are party favors or keepsakes available?
Yes! Squarena keepsake T-shirts are available for purchase and make fun souvenirs or party favors.
Our Arena Takeover package also includes a complimentary Squarena T-shirt for the birthday celebrant!
You're welcome to bring your own goodie bags or party favors to distribute at the end of the celebration.
How do I finalize my party details?
Are there additional cleaning or damage fees?
Once your deposit is received, we'll send your booking confirmation and a birthday questionnaire.
The questionnaire helps us gather the details needed to personalize your celebration, including food preferences, birthday details, and other special requests.
Please complete it before your event so our team has time to prepare!
What time should guests arrive?
We recommend that you and your guests arrive 5–10 minutes before your scheduled party time to allow for check-in and any outstanding waivers.
Our team prepares the party room between events, so early access to the room is not guaranteed.
Late guests are still welcome to join the celebration!
However, because our parties follow a scheduled timeline, we are unable to extend gameplay or party room time beyond your reserved event period.
We strongly recommend arriving on time so everyone can enjoy the full experience.
Comfortable, active clothing and athletic shoes are recommended.
Our games involve movement, quick reactions, and plenty of activity, so we encourage players to dress for fun!
Can waivers be completed in advance?
Do parents need to stay during the party?
Can parents watch the games?
Yes. All players must have a completed waiver before participating in gameplay.
For minors, a parent or legal guardian must complete the waiver on their behalf.
Yes, and we strongly recommend it!
To make check-in as smooth as possible, please encourage parents and guardians to complete waivers online before the party.
Waivers can be completed through our online waiver portal. Guests can look up the reservation using the booking email address or last name.
Parents are welcome to stay and enjoy the celebration, or coordinate drop-off and pickup arrangements with the birthday family.
Absolutely! Parents and other nonplaying guests are welcome to watch from our designated observation areas.
There's plenty of fun in cheering everyone on!
Standard party setup and cleanup are already included in your birthday package.
We simply ask that guests treat our facility, equipment, and party spaces with care.
Excessive messes or damage beyond normal party use, such as intentional food throwing, significant spills, or equipment misuse, may result in additional cleaning or repair charges.
Any applicable charges will be reviewed and documented by management in accordance with the booking agreement.
